Tim Snufkin James

"My old friend, James Gibbons, with whom I was in a band with way back in my University days happened to be in Tokyo during the time when one of our mutual friends passed away. We wrote this album together whilst coming to terms with the situation, so in some ways it was a cathartic process and in other ways a homage to friendship." TSJ

Say

Stepping softly, worlds aloft and I can’t believe you’re not here. It’s taken much time to see your crime but I’ll try to absolve your fear. Climb on high, you won’t deny me and I’m still here for you. Sadly declining, our voices are rising, we are you, you are we. Hey. Start believing now, it’s time for you to, stop receding now, it’s late and I’m blue, call it a beginning now, I miss you, I miss you, say it’s continuing and say, say, say, say, say.... Indecision can be expensive and what about all those wasted chances, possibilities and insecurities, they took ahold of you. Forget achieving now, it’s false and empty, don’t be pretending now that you’re ok and that nothing matters now and I can’t accept, say it out loud now and say, say, say, say, say... start believing now, it’s time for you to, stop receding now, it’s late and I’m blue, call it a beginning now, I miss you, I miss you, say it’s continuing and say, say, say, say say....

Inappropriate Shoes

What are you afraid of, wearing inappropriate shoes? struggling slowly through wet sand? Let’s push away from the harbour now. Carrying too much tackle and supplies. what can I do for you, where shall we go? What can you do for me to make me feel better? I laughed at you, you cursed. Let the light in now, talk to me, you’re not too big to cry no need to hide. It’s much more simple now but your hands are shaking. it’s just another knot, another tangle or snag. The mackerel and the sea bass are easy to catch but they’re easy to lose, easy to snatch and difficult to land. Let the light in now, talk to me, you’re not too big to cry no need to hide. Let the light in now, talk to me, you’re not too big to cry no need to hide.

The Silence is Too Loud

My hands are clammy and my head is hot, there’s too much paper work I can’t stop the rot. At first it was appealing, now it’s just demanding, I’m not proud or mad at least I think I’m not, I think I’m not. I hate the chemicals in my body and the teeth inside my head, the itchin and the twitchin and the women who freak my bed. An audience is persuasive but I’ve got nothing left to show, I’m tired of talk talk talking, I’d rather be led. They’re all power hungry and celebrity mongering, the sycophants are all around, I’m so tired and cold and lonely, I’m so tired and cold and lonely, I’m so tired and cold and lonely, I’m so tired and cold and lonely. I’m tired of stating, your teachings are failing, the silence is too loud. I hate the voices in my head, and the take take takers who steal my lead, the affluentic southerners don’t free my stead, free my stead. what’s it like to sit on a roller-coaster without a body bolster, or to sit around outside supermarkets waiting for some bread.

Maybe a Genius

Everything changes and everything moves, up and down, in between. You can find a way through it, but there’s no way back, lost and found, it’s obscene. Soaked and shuddering, cloaked and clinging around and around, in reverse. You can’t know it, but you can always be it, gaining pace, losing weight, I can see it. The highs and the lows, the sadistic blows, you better feel it now, you better leave it. Maybe a genius, but somehow annoying, unimaginable, this thirst. An occupational failure, but a good friend, I’m dumbfounded, believe it. The highs and the lows, the sadistic blows, you better feel it now, you better leave it. Explanations diverse as Shakespeare, all actors on a stage, an inspirational mentor, the substance has been waylaid, the sadistic blows, you better feel it now, you better leave it. Maybe, maybe a genius, maybe a genius, a genius, a genius?

Waiting For The Tide

Don’t know what to say, you’re sitting still, around you circle clouds of fear. There is nothing they can do, nothing to know, their envy colours all the smiles. And along these planes of feeling, there are falling stars, and others down from up above where you’re afar, and it seems they offer comfort and they help you though the night, but that reassuring feeling’s slipping from your life. Don’t know what to say, you’re sitting still, around you circle clouds of fear, when the truth greets and says goodbye, and you’re waiting for the tide, your future shapes it’s own divide. And along these planes of feeling, there are falling stars, and others down from up above where you’re afar, and it seems they offer comfort and they help you though the night, but that reassuring feeling’s slipping from your life.

Call

I’d like to try to find a way of being me, it’s harder to imagine than being you. I’m out of time, the station bell is ringing out, I was too slow to reach you, it’s quiet now. Call, when you’re through then say my name, call, the raindrops on the window pane, call, the ocean’s calm this time of day, call, the streetlight’s will illuminate. I’d like to be the man I once saw on TV, he stepped into a phone box, went back in time. What would I do? what would I say if anything or just reach out and touch you, just one more time. Call, when you’re through then say my name, call, the raindrops on the window pane, call, the ocean’s calm this time of day, call, the streetlight’s will illuminate. I always thought that life was like a cash machine, if you run out of memories, just get out more, the truth is that each one you have can never be made agin but only made anew. Call, when you’re through then say my name, call, the raindrops on the window pane, call, the ocean’s calm this time of day, call, the streetlight’s will illuminate. Call, when you’re through then say my name, call, the raindrops on the window pane, call, the ocean’s calm this time of day, call, the streetlight’s will illuminate.

Circle Extended

You were the golden boy at school, so smooth and bright and very cool, the world was at your feet, you were in our own heaven. every road was wide and open there was no clear or blue horizon, the earth was flat, the possibilities never ended. Hold out your hand, give it to me for a moment, listen to how you can still make a difference, how can you care, there’s a way, there’s a secret, open it up, it’s a circle extended. When the gold turned into silver, it lost it’s shine and all it’s lustre, I don’t know and I can’t divine, I wish I could understand. When the loneliness became despair, the walls closed in around you. I wish I’d been there, I couldn’t bare a world that’s without you. Hold out your hand, give it to me for a moment, listen to how you can still make a difference, how can you care, there’s a way, there’s a secret, open it up, it’s a circle extended. Promise me that you’ll care about someone, promise me that you’ll talk when you’re feeling down, promise me that it all means something, promise me you’ll never be alone, promise me that you’ll take your chances, promise me that you’ll never shy away, promise me that when you’re scared you’ll turn the light on, promise me that you’ll chase the night away.

Where Are You?

Where are you, lost in blue? the tell tale signs, you fell I pined, why resign? The manic cuts, the velvet coats, the fur and shoes, the magic booze, I’ve been there too. I’ve been there too but not like you, not like you. Questioning everything, challenging, surprising, filtering. I’ve been there too but not like you, not like you. Where are you, lost in blue? the tell tale signs, you fell I pined, why resign? The manic cuts, the velvet coats, the fur and shoes, the magic booze, I’ve been there too. I’ve been there too but not like you, not like you. Where are you, lost in blue? the tell tale signs, you fell I pined, why resign?

Make You Whole

Everyone is cracked and broken, you have to find something to fix you, to give you what you need, to take you away and make you whole. All who criticise and despise, the silence stopped you from hearing, they question how to  legitimise, the rain outside stopped you from hearing, can they justify what they say, Can we answer those questions? Everyone is cracked and broken, you have to find something to fix you, to give you what you need, to take you away and make you whole. All who criticise and despise, the silence stopped you from hearing, they question how to  legitimise, the rain outside stopped you from hearing, Can they justify what they say, can we answer those questions?

Untangle

Gather all around, you have something to say, this world that’s full of trouble, it’ll always be, it’ll always be. da da de da de da, you said that words were called for you said that anything at all. You built a bridge today, you planned it out your way, each line a work of wonder, a monumental splendour. Gather all around, I have something to say, this world that’s full of trouble, it needn’t be, it needn’t be. da da de da de da, you said that words were called for, who said that anything at all. I built a house today, I planned it out my way, one line became another and now it’s all together.
